Toronto Star interview of top agents and their ideal properties
We asked three GTA realtors which homes they’d show clients with $2.5 million to spend and those with just $250,000.
Paul Johnston
Crafthouse
Address: 50 Page Avenue (near Bayview and Finch)
Price $2.48M
Specs: 6000 sf detached home with four bedrooms, four bathrooms, media room and two car garage.
Why This: “The architecture: it’s contemporary, but not trendy. It’s a respectable modern form that I think will last. And it’s in a community of only 20 homes, with seven different designs. So it’s not like tract houses: there aren’t 200 of the same kind of home here”
Appreciation Potential: Strong. “Thanks to all the development going on along Sheppard and Bayview, prices are appreciating dramatically in the area. As existing housing stock becomes older and more tired, demand for newer, architecturally interesting homes is going to surpass supply.”
Would you live here: “Absolutely.”
For $250,000
DUKE Condos
Address: 2800 Dundas Street West
Price: $252,900 (Fees: $210/ month)
Specs: 467 sq ft studio with juliette balcony
Why this: “Something special is happening in the Junction. The neighbourhood is undergoing change but in a sensitive, authentic and engaging way. This unit is efficiently laid out and it’s in an intimate seven-storey building”
Appreciation Potential: Strong. “The neighbourhood has seen massive appreciation in the price of homes.”
Would you life here: “I bought a unit (for investment purposes). But if I was a first-time buyer, I’d love to be in the heart of an evolving, exciting neighbourhood like the Junction”
